God of the quake,
may your peace still the hearts
of those who tremble in fear;
and may the earth’s roar
shake us up from apathy
and move us to give ear
to the cry of people who suffer
both far and near.

God of the wave,
may your comfort wash over the lives
of those who shudder in distress;
and may the churning waters
sweep away our indifference
and propel our willingness to bless
your suffering children
who are adrift and dispossessed.

Una Oración tras el terremoto y Tsunami en Japón

Dios del terremoto,
que tu paz calme los corazones
de quienes tiemblan por el temor;
y que el rugido de la tierra
sacuda nuestra apatía
y nos mueva a escuchar
al grito de la gente que sufre
a nuestro lado y en la lejanía.

Dios de la ola,
que tu consuelo inunde las vidas
de quienes se estremecen de aflicción;
y que las aguas agitadas
barran con nuestra indiferencia
e impulsen nuestra compasión
por tus criaturas que sufren
a la deriva y sin posesión.

Amén.
