Padre nuestro
y Madre nuestra,
que estás en los cielos
y entraste en la tierra,
santificado sea tu Nombre,
y dignificada sea tu Feminidad.
Venga tu reino.
Construyamos comunidad,
seamos una familia,
acojamos la diversidad.
Hágase tu voluntad,
así en la tierra, como en el cielo.
Honremos tu intención
en todas las relaciones
obrando con justicia y compasión.
El pan nuestro de cada día,
dánoslo hoy.
La tierra y el trigo que nos das cada amanecer
recuérdanos que son para compartir
de modo que la pobreza pueda desaparecer.
Y perdona nuestras deudas,
como también nosotros
perdonamos a nuestros deudores.
Y haznos conscientes de la carga del endeudamiento
para que forjemos sociedades de equidad
donde nadie tenga que vivir esclavizado
y se acabe la explotación sexual.
Y no nos dejes caer en la tentación,
mas líbranos del mal.
Y apártanos de la vía del egoísmo y la mezquindad,
mas condúcenos por el camino del bien común
y del progreso de toda la humanidad.
Porque tuyo es el reino,
el poder, y la gloria,
por los siglos de los siglos.
Porque tuyo es el cosmos,
el dominio, y la celebridad,
por toda la eternidad.
Amén.

“Our Father and our Mother”

An updated version of the traditional prayer

Our Father
and our Mother,
who art in heaven,
and came into the earth,
hallowed be your Name,
and your Femininity dignified.
Your kingdom come.
May we build community,
behaving like family,
embracing diversity.
Your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Let us honor your intention
by acting with justice and mercy
in all relations.
Give us this day
our daily bread.
Remind us that the land and the wheat
that you give us each dawn, each year
are meant to be shared
so that poverty may disappear.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And make us aware of the burden of indebtedness
so that we may forge equitable societies
where no one lives enslaved
and sexual exploitation comes to an end.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Keep us from the ways of selfishness and malice,
and guide us down the path of the common good
and progress for all humanity.
For yours is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.
For yours is the cosmos,
the dominion, and the celebrity,
for all eternity.
Amen.

“Construyendo comunidad” / “Building community”

Una reflexión basada en Juan 21:15-17

Tres veces negó Pedro
ser discípulo de Jesús
por miedo a sufrir las consecuencias
de su nueva identidad
como pescador de gente
para el reino de Dios,
en vez de un ciudadano sumiso y servil
del poder imperante.

Tres veces prometió Pedro
cuidar del rebaño de Jesús
decidido a asumir el compromiso
de su nueva identidad
como pescador de gente
para la familia de Dios,
ejemplo de un ciudadano rebelde y crítico
del poder dominante.

Y a partir de ese momento,
Pedro el negador se convierte en afirmador,
Pedro el traidor se convierte en seguidor,
Pedro el desertor se convierte en apacentador.

Dios de las segundas oportunidades,
tú que siempre estás listo para perdonarnos
y ofrecernos un nuevo comienzo,
ayúdanos a renovar nuestro compromiso
con tu reino de amor y justicia
construyendo comunidad.

Dios de las preguntas incesantes,
tú que siempre estás listo para restituirnos
y ofrecernos un nuevo llamado,
ayúdanos a reafirmar nuestro compromiso
con tu familia de amor y justicia
por el bien de la humanidad.

Nota: Reflexión inspirada en el evangelio y esta frase del abogado, político y sindicalista español Pablo Castellano Cardalliaguet: “El ciudadano ha de ser ciudadano rebelde y crítico, no puede ser un ciudadano sumiso ni servil”.

“Building community”

A reflection based on John 21:15-17

Three times Peter denied
being Jesus’ disciple
fearing to suffer the consequences
of his new identity
as a fisher of people
for God’s kingdom,
instead of a submissive and subservient citizen
of the prevailing power.

Three times Peter promised
to care for Jesus’ flock
ready to assume the commitment
of his new identity
as a fisher of people
for God’s kin-dom,
an example of a rebellious and critical citizen
of the dominant power.

And from that point on,
Peter the denier becomes an affirmer,
Peter the traitor becomes a follower,
Peter the deserter becomes a feeder.

God of the second chances,
you who are always ready to forgive us
and to offer us a new beginning,
help us to renew our commitment
with your kingdom of love and justice
by building community.

God of the relentless questions,
you who are always ready to restore us
and to offer us a new calling,
help us to reaffirm our commitment
with your kin-dom of love and justice
for the sake of humanity.
