“On Birthing Pains”
Nicodemus was a Pharisee, a leader of the Jews, a devout man who goes to see Jesus late at night, because he is captivated by the Master’s teachings and works. But he is baffled by Jesus’ demand that he must be born again of water and Spirit. The story leaves us wondering about his lack of response. Did he really not get it? I don’t think so. But he apparently lacked the courage to go through the birthing pains! What about us? Are we also afraid of change? Of losing control? Of what we might become? Come Holy Spirit, and release us from the womb of the past!

De la Pastora: “Sobre los Dolores de Parto”
Nicodemo era un fariseo. un líder de los judíos, un hombre devoto que fue a ver a Jesús tarde en la noche, porque estaba admirado por las enseñanzas y las obras del Maestro. Pero se quedó perplejo cuando Jesús le exigió que tenía que nacer de nuevo del agua y el Espíritu. La historia nos deja pensando en su falta de respuesta. ¿En verdad no entendió? No lo creo. Pero aparentemente no tuvo valor para enfrentarse a los dolores de parto. ¿Y nosotr@s? ¿También le tenemos miedo al cambio? ¿A perder el control? ¿A lo que podemos llegar a ser? Ven, Espíritu Santo, y libéranos del vientre del pasado!
