Necesitamos un portazo...

que alerte nuestros sentidos

y despierte nuestra conciencia;

que espante nuestra apatía

y sacuda nuestra indiferencia;

que suspenda nuestra algarabía

y sobrepase nuestro parloteo;

que inquiete nuestra tranquilidad

y mueva nuestra pasividad;

que arranque nuestros apegos

y desarraigue nuestros hábitos.

Necesitamos un portazo

del Viento estruendoso de Pentecostés

que nos arroje a la calle

y nos devuelva a la vida,

porque este encierro de templo

nos está matando.

We need a door slam...

that alerts our senses

and awakens our consciousness;

that frightens our apathy

and shakes our indifference;

that arrests our racket

and overtakes our jabber;

that disquiets our tranquility

and moves our passivity;

that rips out our attachments

and tears out our habits.

We need a door slam

from the violent Pentecost Wind

that throws us out in the street

and returns us to life,

because this temple confinement

is killing us.
