Acts 10:44-48 (New Revised Standard Version)
44 While Peter was still speaking, the Holy
Spirit fell upon all who heard the word. 45 The circumcised
believers who had come with Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy
Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles, 46 for they
heard them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter said, 47 “Can
anyone withhold the water for baptizing these people who have received the Holy
Spirit just as we have?” 48 So he ordered them to be baptized
in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they invited him to stay for several days.
No special invitation,
no admission ticket,
no selection process,
no arduous test,
no theological scruples,
no special amendments:
the Holy Spirit freely fell
upon all who heard the spoken word,
even on the gentiles[i].
Pouring God, give us an extra measure
of your generous spirit
so that we might remember receiving
the water and the welcome
as yesterday’s gentiles.

Hechos 10:44-48 (Nueva Biblia Latinoamericana de Hoy)
44 Mientras
Pedro aún hablaba estas palabras, el Espíritu Santo cayó sobre todos los que
escuchaban el mensaje (la palabra). 45 Todos
los creyentes que eran de la circuncisión (Judíos Cristianos), que
habían venido con Pedro, se quedaron asombrados, porque el don del Espíritu
Santo había sido derramado también sobre los Gentiles, 46 pues
los oían hablar en lenguas y exaltar a Dios. Entonces Pedro dijo: 47 “¿Puede
acaso alguien negar el agua para que sean bautizados éstos que han recibido el
Espíritu Santo lo mismo que nosotros?” 48 Y
mandó que fueran bautizados en el nombre de Jesucristo. Entonces le pidieron
que se quedara con ellos unos días.
Sin invitación especial,
sin boleto de admisión,
sin proceso de
selección,
sin examen riguroso,
sin escrúpulos
teológicos,
sin enmiendas especiales:
el Espíritu Santo cayó
libremente
sobre todos los que
oyeron la palabra hablada,
incluso sobre los gentiles[ii].

de tu generoso espíritu
para que podamos
recordar el recibimiento
del agua y la bienvenida
como los gentiles de
