Cuando cesan las procesiones

y se guardan las cruces de palo

comienza el verdadero calvario:

el reto de verte, Cristo Crucificado,

en cada hombre o mujer que sufre,

en todo pueblo atropellado.

Cuando cesan los aleluyas

y se guardan las cruces floreadas

comienza la verdadera Pascua:

el reto de verte, Cristo Vivo,

en cada hombre o mujer que lucha,

en todo pueblo movilizado.

Abre nuestros ojos, Dios Sanador,

y remueve las membranas que nos ciegan
con el bisturí de la Palabra, la reflexión

y la concienciación.

Fortalece nuestra voluntad, Dios Habilitador,

y desencadena las atrofias que nos paralizan
con la terapia del compromiso, el sacrificio

y la determinación.

A Post-Easter Prayer

When the processions cease

and the wooden crosses are stored away

the true calvary begins:

the challenge of seeing you, Crucified Christ,

in each man and woman who suffers,

in all people trod upon.

When the alleluias cease

and the flowering crosses are stored away

the true Easter begins:

the challenge of seeing you, Living Christ,

in each man and woman who struggle,

in all people mobilized.

Open our eyes, Healing God,

and remove the membranes that blind us
with the scalpel of your Word, reflection

and consciousness-raising.

Strengthen our will, Enabling God,

and unleash the atrophies that paralyze us
with the therapy of commitment, sacrifice,

and determination.
