From the Pastor: “On Making Room"
In today’s Gospel reading from John 14, we hear Jesus saying: “There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home” (The Message). What do you picture when you hear these words? For generations Christians have used these words at funerals, implying that there is a place for everyone in heaven (regardless of what heaven means for you). But given Jesus’ teaching and life, I’m convinced that Jesus also meant something else: that there is room for everyone at God’s house here and now. What about your table? Can you make room for all?

De la Pastora: “Sobre Hacer Lugar"
En el Evangelio para hoy en Juan 14 oímos a Jesús decir: “En el hogar de mi Padre, hay lugar más que suficiente” (Nueva Traducción viviente). ¿Qué imaginamos al oír estas palabras? Por generaciones los cristianos hemos usado estas palabras en funerales, con la implicación de que hay lugar para tod@s en el cielo (no importa lo que usted crea sobre el cielo). Pero a la luz de la vida y enseñanzas de Jesús, estoy convencida de que Jesús también quiso decir algo más: que hay lugar para tod@s en la casa de Dios aquí y ahora. ¿Qué tal su mesa? ¿Tiene lugar para tod@s?
