“Diversity” / “Diversidad”

A reflection based on 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

Diversity is not
a burden to bear,
a contemporary curse,
or a plague to be avoided.

Diversity is
an imprint of God’s design,
a legacy of Jesus’ wide embrace,
and a sign of the Spirit at work.

Diversity is
the beginning, a first step
on the long road towards inclusion,
acceptance and celebration
of every child of God.

And since the church is called to be
an instrument of God’s mercy,
an agent of reconciliation,
and a foretaste of the kin-dom of God,
we better start acting the part,
by tearing down the divides
and making room for everyone
at the table and in our heart.

Diversity is strength,
loyalty, rainbow,
beauty and delight.

“Diversidad”

Una reflexión basada en 1 Corintios 12:12-27

La diversidad no es
una carga por sobrellevar,
una maldición contemporánea,
o una plaga que debamos evitar.

La diversidad es
una huella del diseño de Dios,
un legado del abrazo acogedor de Jesús,
y una señal de la obra del Espíritu.

La diversidad es
el comienzo, un primer paso
en el largo camino hacia la inclusión,
la aceptación y la celebración
de toda criatura de Dios.

Y como la iglesia está llamada a ser
un instrumento de la misericordia divina,
un agente de reconciliación
y un anticipo de la familia de Dios,
más vale que asumamos nuestra función
derribando las barreras
y haciendo lugar para todos, todas y todes
en la mesa y en nuestro corazón.

La diversidad es fortaleza,
fidelidad, arcoíris,
alegría y riqueza.
