The life of faith is a journey that constantly calls us to discern the merit of withholding versus contributing, of divesting versus investing, of burying versus unearthing. In this parable, the slave or servant given one talent invites us to carefully evaluate our actions, paying special attention not to the Master’s or the empire’s demands (which do not represent God), but to the commandments of the Law and the witness of Biblical prophets that should guide our stewardship, despite the present costs or consequences.

When we bury submission and unearth resistance,
we hear the voice of Jesus say:
Well done, faithful servant,
keep bearing fruits until we are able to establish
God’s kin-dom on earth.

When we bury injustice and unearth equity,
we hear the voice of Jesus say:
Well done, faithful servant,
keep bearing fruits until we are able to establish
God’s kin-dom on earth.

When we bury selfishness and unearth generosity,
we hear the voice of Jesus say:
Well done, faithful servant,
keep bearing fruits until we are able to establish
God’s kin-dom on earth.

When we bury apathy and unearth compassion,
we hear the voice of Jesus say:
Well done, faithful servant,
keep bearing fruits until we are able to establish
God’s kin-dom on earth.

When we bury hostility and unearth hospitality,
we hear the voice of Jesus say:
Well done, faithful servant,
keep bearing fruits until we are able to establish
God’s kin-dom on earth.

When we bury imprisonment and unearth freedom,
we hear the voice of Jesus say:
Well done, faithful servant,
keep bearing fruits until we are able to establish
God’s kin-dom on earth.

When we bury evil and unearth goodness,
we hear the voice of Jesus say:
Well done, faithful servant,
keep bearing fruits until we are able to establish
God’s kin-dom on earth.

La vida de fe es un peregrinaje que constantemente nos llama a discernir el mérito de retener versus contribuir, de desinvertir versus invertir, de enterrar versus desenterrar. En esta parábola, el esclavo o siervo que recibió un talento nos invita a evaluar cuidadosamente nuestras acciones, prestando especial atención no a las demandas del amo o del imperio (que no representan a Dios), sino a los mandamientos de la Ley y al testimonio de los profetas bíblicos que deben guiar nuestra mayordomía, a pesar de los costos o las consecuencias presentes.

Cuando enterramos la sumisión y desenterramos la resistencia,
oímos la voz de Jesús que nos dice:
Bien hecho, siervo fiel, sigue dando frutos
hasta que el reinado de Dios en la tierra
logremos establecer.

Cuando enterramos la injusticia y desenterramos la equidad,
oímos la voz de Jesús que nos dice:
Bien hecho, sierva fiel, sigue dando frutos
hasta que el reinado de Dios en la tierra
logremos establecer.

Cuando enterramos el egoísmo y desenterramos la generosidad,
oímos la voz de Jesús que nos dice:
Bien hecho, siervo fiel, sigue dando frutos
hasta que el reinado de Dios en la tierra
logremos establecer.

Cuando enterramos la apatía y desenterramos la compasión,
oímos la voz de Jesús que nos dice:
Bien hecho, sierva fiel, sigue dando frutos
hasta que el reinado de Dios en la tierra
logremos establecer.

Cuando enterramos la hostilidad y desenterramos la hospitalidad,
oímos la voz de Jesús que nos dice:

Cuando enterramos el encarcelamiento y desenterramos la libertad,
oímos la voz de Jesús que nos dice:

oímos la voz de Jesús que nos dice:
