“Hearts on fire” / “Corazones ardientes”

A reflection based on Luke 24:13-35

Gathering in community,
walking together,
comforting each other;
these daily practices
taught by Jesus
encouraged the disciples
at a time of loss,
and helped them
to find their way.

Seeking understanding,
wrestling with questions,
searching the Scriptures;
these holy habits
taught by Jesus
nurtured the disciples
at a time of confusion,
and helped them
to find their way.

Welcoming strangers,
setting the table,
sharing bread;
these spiritual disciplines
taught by Jesus
sustained the disciples
at a time of loneliness,
and helped them
to find their way.

And as they persevered
in gathering, seeking, and welcoming
the living Jesus himself
in the form of a stranger
stood in their midst,
walked alongside them,
broke bread with them,
and their hearts were on fire,
filled with joy,
and they ran to share
the good news.

Una reflexión basada en Lucas 24:13-35

Reuniéndose en comunidad,
caminando juntos,
consolándose mutuamente;
estas prácticas diarias
enseñadas por Jesús
alentaron a los discípulos y discípulas
en un momento de pérdida,
y les ayudaron
a encontrar su camino.

Buscando entendimiento,
luchando con las preguntas,
escudriñando las Escrituras;
estos hábitos sagrados
enseñados por Jesús
nutrieron a los discípulos y discípulas
en un momento de confusión,
y les ayudaron
a encontrar su camino.

Acogiendo a los forasteros,
poniendo la mesa,
compartiendo el pan;
estas disciplinas espirituales
enseñadas por Jesús
sostuvieron a los discípulos y discípulas
en un momento de soledad
y les ayudaron
a encontrar su camino.

Y mientras perseveraban
reuniéndose, buscando y acogiendo
el Jesús vivo mismo
en forma de un desconocido
se puso en medio,
caminó a su lado,
partió el pan,
y sus corazones ardieron,
se llenaron de gozo,
y corrieron a compartir
las buenas nuevas.
