Necesitamos que las piedras hablen,
porque hay demasiado silencio ante la maldad.
Necesitamos que las piedras hablen,
porque hay demasiada mesura ante la falsedad.
Necesitamos que las piedras hablen,
porque hay demasiada impunidad ante la complicidad.
Necesitamos que las piedras hablen,
porque hay demasiada corrupción ante la iniquidad.
Necesitamos que las piedras hablen,
porque hay demasiada indiferencia ante la crueldad.
Necesitamos que las piedras hablen,
porque hay demasiada apatía ante la inhumanidad.
Dios del principio,
tú que nos diste en el génesis el aliento de vida,
perdónanos por callar,
por miedo y por interés propio,
ante la inmoralidad.
Dios de los nuevos comienzos,
tú que nos das cada día el aliento de vida,
ayúdanos a denunciar,
por amor y por el bien común,
ante toda perversidad.

because there’s too much silence in the face of evil.
We need stones to speak up,
because there’s too much restraint in the face of falsehood.
We need stones to speak up,
because there’s too much impunity in the face of complicity.
We need stones to speak up,
because there’s too much corruption in the face of iniquity.
We need stones to speak up,
because there’s too much indifference in the face of cruelty.
We need stones to speak up,
because there’s too much apathy in the face of inhumanity.
God of the beginning,
you who gave us at the genesis the breath of life,
forgive us for remaining silent,
due to fear or self-interest,
in the face of immorality.
God of the new beginnings,
you who give us each day the breadth of life,
help us to denounce,
out of love and for the common good,
in the face of all perversity.
