Witnesses to the light we long to be,
like Simeon,
a righteous and devout people,
who remain expectant,
trusting in God’s time
and the divine tendency
to surprise us
in the vulnerability
of an impoverished family.

Witnesses to the light we long to be,
like Anna,
a faithful and constant people,
who remain vigilant,
trusting in God’s time
and the divine tendency
to surprise us
in the fragility
of a defenseless child.

God of the elderly and the newborn,
open our eyes
that we might see your hand working
and your Spirit breeding new life
in our midst.

God of the widows and the new mothers,
take away our prejudices
that we might see your hand empowering
and your Spirit giving birth to a new world
in our midst.

“Testigos de la luz”

Una reflexión basada en Lucas 2:22-40

Testigos de la luz queremos ser,
como Simeón,
pueblo justo y piadoso,
que se mantiene expectante,
confiando en el tiempo de Dios
y en la tendencia divina
a sorprendernos
en la vulnerabilidad
de una familia empobrecida.

Testigos de la luz queremos ser,
como Ana,
gente fiel y firme,
que se mantiene vigilante,
confiando en el tiempo de Dios
y en la tendencia divina
a sorprendernos
en la fragilidad
de una criatura indefensa.

Dios de los ancianos y los recién nacidos,
abre nuestros ojos
para que podamos ver tu mano obrando
y tu Espíritu gestando una nueva vida
en medio nuestro.

Dios de las viudas y las primerizas,
remueve nuestros prejuicios
para que podamos ver tu mano empoderando
y tu Espíritu pariendo un nuevo mundo
en medio nuestro.
