“Increase our faith” the disciples plead,
but Jesus wants them to grow in wisdom.
“Increase our faith” the disciples plead,
but Jesus wants them to grow in compassion.
“Increase our faith” the disciples plead,
but Jesus wants them to grow in humility.
“Increase our faith” the disciples plead,
but Jesus wants them to grow in tolerance.
“Increase our faith” the disciples plead,
but Jesus wants them to grow in gentleness.
“Increase our faith” the disciples plead,
but Jesus wants them to grow in hospitality.

God who dwells among us,
you who came down to earth
and assumed the human condition;
you who cast off all arrogance
and assumed the mantle of service;
you who gave up all privilege
and assumed the cause of the dispossessed...

remind us that you call us
to renounce all distraction
so that we might increase in devotion;
to renounce all ambition
so that we might increase in generosity;
to renounce all separation
so that we might increase in communion.

pero Jesús quiere que crezcamos en sabiduría.
“Auméntanos la fe” piden los discípulos,
pero Jesús quiere que crezcamos en compasión.
“Auméntanos la fe” piden los discípulos,
pero Jesús quiere que crezcamos en humildad.
“Auméntanos la fe” piden los discípulos,
pero Jesús quiere que crezcamos en tolerancia.
“Auméntanos la fe” piden los discípulos,
pero Jesús quiere que crezcamos en gentileza.
“Auméntanos la fe” piden los discípulos,
pero Jesús quiere que crezcamos en hospitalidad.

Dios que moras en medio nuestro,
tú que bajaste a la tierra
y asumiste la condición humana;
tú que te despojaste de toda arrogancia
y asumiste el manto del servicio;
tú que prescindiste de todo privilegio
y asumiste la causa de los desposeídos...

recuérdanos que tú nos llamas
a renunciar a la distracción
para que aumentemos en devoción;
a renunciar a la ambición
para que aumentemos en generosidad;
a renunciar a la separación
para que aumentemos en comunión.
