Dios de los reversos,
tú que derrocas del trono a los poderosos,
y pones en alto a los humildes,
te damos gracias por el mayordomo infiel,
porque a pesar de que no se arrepintió,
como lo hizo el hijo pródigo de Lucas 15,
y a pesar de que no abandonó la deshonestidad
ni la tendencia a sacar provecho de la situación,
comenzó a usar su astucia y sagacidad
para modificar un negocio de explotación
y ofreció de ese modo alivio a los estafados.

Dios de las balanzas,
tú que colmas de bienes a los hambrientos,
y a los ricos dejas con las manos vacías,
te damos gracias por el mayordomo infiel,
porque a pesar de que no renunció al privilegio
por ser tan soberbio como el rico de Lucas 16,
y a pesar de que no abandonó la duplicidad
ni la tendencia a proteger sus propios intereses,
comenzó a usar su poder e influencia
para modificar una economía de dominación
y ofreció de ese modo alivio a los endeudados.

A prayer of gratitude based on Luke 16:1-13 and Mary’s Song

God of reversals,
you who bring down the powerful from their thrones,
and lift up the lowly,
we thank you for the unfaithful manager,
because although he did not repent,
like the prodigal son in Luke 15,
and although he did not abandon dishonesty
nor the tendency to take advantage of situations,
he started using his astuteness and sagacity
to modify a business of exploitation
and offered relief to those being scammed.

God of scales,
you who fill the hungry with good things,
and send the rich away empty,
we thank you for the unfaithful manager,
for although he did not renounce privilege
because he was as proud as the rich man from Luke 16,
and although he did not abandon duplicity
nor the tendency to protect his own interests,
he started using his power and influence
to modify an economy of domination
and offered relief to those who were indebted.
