y fortalezcamos nuestro compromiso
de ser una respuesta a sus peticiones.

A litany based on Luke
17:5-6

“Increase our faith” is the prayer of the satiated,
because the starving pray:
“Deliver us from hunger.”
“Increase our faith” is the prayer of the affluent,
because the poor pray:
“Deliver us from misery.”
“Increase our faith” is the prayer of the healthy,
because the sick pray:
“Deliver us from illness.”
“Increase our faith” is the prayer of the accepted,
because the rejected pray:
“Deliver us from exclusion.”
“Increase our faith” is the prayer of the employed,
because the jobless pray:
“Deliver us from unemployment.”
“Increase our faith” is the prayer of the privileged,
because the disadvantaged pray:
“Deliver us from deprivation.”
“Increase our faith” is the prayer of the empowered,
because the invisiblized pray:
“Deliver us from oblivion.”
God of the attentive gaze,
you who saw the affliction of your people
when they were enslaved in Egypt,
open our eyes
that we might see the distress
of those who suffer by our side
and increase our resolve
to be an answer to their petitions.
God of the acute hearing,
you who heard the cries of your people
when they were oppressed in Egypt,
open our ears
that we might hear the lament
of those who languish by our side
and strengthen our commitment
to be an answer to their petitions.
