“O sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;

A new song:
the psalmist urges us
to sing a new song,
but often all we offer
are dated, hollow words
with a new rhythm.

A new song:
the psalmist urges us
to sing to the Lord,
but often all we offer
is blind, self-serving obedience
to the rhetoric of despots.

A new song:
the psalmist urges us
to sing with the earth,
but often all we offer
is a hellish, bloody cacophony
of desecrated land.

Forgive us, God of the Dawn,
for turning a deaf ear
to your song of justice and compassion.
Help us, God of the Morning,
to sing, shout and embody each day
the good news of your shalom.

“Una canción nueva”

Oración matutina basada en Salmos 96

“Canten al Señor una canción nueva;
canten al Señor, habitantes de toda la tierra;
canten al Señor, bendigan su nombre;
anuncien día tras día su salvación”. – Salmos 96:1-2 DHH

Una canción nueva:
el salmista nos insta
a cantar una canción nueva,
pero a menudo sólo ofrecemos
palabras desgastadas, huecas
con una nuevo ritmo.

Una canción nueva:
el salmista nos insta
a cantar al Señor,
pero a menudo sólo ofrecemos
obediencia ciega e interesada
a la retórica de los déspotas.

Una canción nueva:
el salmista nos insta
a cantar con la tierra,
pero a menudo sólo ofrecemos
una cacofonía infernal y sangrienta
de tierra profanada.

Perdónanos, Dios del Alba,
por prestar oído sordo
a tu cántico de justicia y compasión.
Ayúdanos, Dios de la Mañana,
a cantar, gritar y encarnar cada día
las buenas nuevas de tu shalom.
