As we begin a new school year…

We bless the students.
We pray, O God,
for those who are eager to learn and try new things,
for those who are unmotivated and unsure of themselves,
for those who are popular and have lots of friends,
for those who are isolated and lack adequate support.

We bless the teachers.
We pray, O God,
for those who see the uniqueness and potential of each student,
for those who invest time and resources to prepare classrooms and lessons,
for those who inspire youth and challenge them to achieve,
for those who are tired of being overburdened and unappreciated.

We bless the parents.
We pray, O God,
for those who cry as they drop off their babies at the kindergarten door,
for those who delight in getting kids out of the house and away from the screens,
for those who rise early, drive to school each morning, and do homework each night,
for those who fear an emergency might rush them back to the school ground.

As we begin a new school year,
we bless the students, the teachers, and the parents.
And we pray, God of Knowledge and Wisdom,
that schools might be true communities
of learning, creativity, safety and encouragement
where all children and youth are welcome and celebrated,
and where they all can dream and blossom.

Amen.

Bendición de vuelta a la escuela

Al comenzar el nuevo año escolar…

Bendecimos a los estudiantes, las estudiantes y les estudiantes.
Oramos, oh Dios,
por quienes están deseosos de aprender e intentar cosas nuevas,
por quienes están desmotivados y dudan de sus propias habilidades,
por quienes son populares y tienen muchas amistades,
por quienes están aislados y no tienen el apoyo adecuado.

Bendecimos a los maestros, las maestras y les maestres.
Oramos, oh Dios,
por quienes ven la singularidad y el potencial de cada estudiante,
por quienes invierten tiempo y recursos en preparar salones y lecciones,
por quienes inspiran a la juventud y la retan a obtener logros,
por quienes están cansados de estar sobrecargados y menospreciados.

Bendecimos a las madres y los padres.
Oramos, oh Dios,
por quienes lloran al dejar a sus bebés en la puerta del kindergarten,
por quienes se deleitan en sacar a los chicos de casa y alejarlos de las pantallas,
por quienes madrugan, manejan a la escuela cada mañana, y hacen tareas cada noche,
por quienes temen que una emergencia les traiga corriendo al patio de la escuela.

Al comenzar un nuevo año escolar,
bendecimos a les estudiantes, les maestres, las madres y los padres.
Y oramos, Dios del Conocimiento y la Sabiduría,
porque las escuelas sean verdaderas comunidades
de aprendizaje, creatividad, seguridad y aliento
donde toda la niñez y la juventud sean bienvenidas y celebradas
y donde todos, todas y todes puedan soñar y florecer.
