we’ve all been there...
in the place of disillusionment
in the day of discouragement
in the moment of despair
we’ve all been there...
in the voice that issues an ultimatum
in the hand that slams a door
in the person that gives up on a dream
and so Peter’s words echo through our
lives:
I am going fishing
I have had enough
I am out of here
we’ve all been there...
taking refuge in the familiar
longing for the “good old days”
expecting results from well-trodden ways
we’ve all been there...
when the night grows longer
when the nets come up empty
when the labor seems in vain
and so Jesus’ words echo through our
lives:
let your net down on the other side
risk doing something new
leave arrogance and fear behind
Casting God, remind us that our calling
is to set sail and to hurl the nets
trusting that a great catch is possible
when You steer the boat and break the
waves.
Mending God, remind us that your love
is able to repair the tears of our lives
so that we can once again believe and
work
casting ourselves for the sake of
humankind.

hemos estado allí...
en el lugar de la desilusión
en el día del desaliento
en el momento de la desesperanza
hemos estado allí...
en la voz que emite un ultimátum
en la mano que da un portazo
en la persona que renuncia a un sueño
y por eso las palabras de Pedro hacen
eco en nuestras vidas:
voy a pescar
ya basta
me largo de aquí
hemos estado allí...
refugiándonos en lo conocido
anhelando “los buenos tiempos”
esperando resultados de los métodos
trillados
hemos estado allí...
cuando la noche se alarga
cuando las redes vuelven vacías
cuando la labor parece ser en vano
y por eso las palabras de Jesús hacen
eco en nuestras vidas:
echen sus redes al otro lado
arriesguen por algo nuevo
dejen de lado la arrogancia y el temor
Dios Lanzador, recuérdanos que el
llamado
consiste en zarpar y arrojar las redes
confiando en que una gran pesca es
posible
cuando Tú timoneas la barca y rompes las
olas.
Divinidad Zurcidora, recuérdanos que tu amor
puede reparar los rasgones de nuestras
vidas
de modo que podamos nuevamente creer y
trabajar
lanzándonos al servicio de la humanidad.
