Under the table
one sees the bread from afar
and longs for the crumbs.
Under the table
there is hunger for food and care
and crying out in despair.

Under the table
there is a shortage of goods
but an abundance of wisdom.
Under the table
one knows that what defiles
proceeds from the heart.

Under the table
insults are endured
and disdain is evident.
Under the table
indignation is reinforced
and the resistance is born.

Under the table
there is a call for justice and mercy
that transcends all boundaries.
Under the table
one can hear the Divine Wisdom
speaking in a female and foreign voice.

“Debajo de la mesa”

Una letanía basada en Mateo 15:10-28

Debajo de la mesa
se mira de lejos el pan
y se anhelan las migajas.
Debajo de la mesa
se padece hambre y enfermedad
y con desesperación se clama.

Debajo de la mesa
se sufre escasez de bienes
pero abunda la sabiduría.
Debajo de la mesa
se sabe que lo que contamina
brota del corazón.

Debajo de la mesa
se soportan los insultos
y se percibe el desprecio.
Debajo de la mesa
se refuerza la indignación
y nace la resistencia.

Debajo de la mesa
hay un reclamo de justicia y misericordia
que rebasa todo lindero.
Debajo de la mesa
se oye a la Sabiduría Divina
hablar con voz femenina y extranjera.
