As the Israelites wandered in the desert

the people quarreled with Moses,
and said, “Give us water to drink.”
And God provided water from a rock.

As Jesus passed through Samaria
a local woman argued with him,
because he said, “Give me water to drink.”
And God provided water from a well.

God of Massah and Meribah,
strike open the rock of our hearts
that our lives may gush forth
in good deeds and just actions
that quench the world’s thirst.

God of Samaria and Sychar,
tear down the divisions of our hearts
that our lives may overflow
with good deeds and just actions
that quench the world’s thirst.

God of the Rock and the Well,
Giver of Water and Life,
make us a people
aware of your bounty,
receptive to your gifts,

and sensitive to the thirst of others.

“Roca y pozo”

Una letanía basada en Éxodo 17:1-7 y Juan 4:5-42

Al vagar los israelitas por el desierto
el pueblo disputó con Moisés,
y le dijo: “Danos agua para beber”.
Y Dios proveyó agua de la roca.

Al pasar Jesús por Samaria
una mujer local discutió con él,
porque este le dijo: “Dame agua para beber”.
y Dios proveyó agua del pozo.

Dios de Masá y Meribá,
golpea la roca de nuestros corazones,
para que nuestras vidas broten
en buenas obras y acciones justas
que calmen la sed del mundo.

Dios de Samaria y Sicar,
derriba las divisiones de nuestros corazones,
para que nuestras vidas fluyan
en buenas obras y acciones justas
que calmen la sed del mundo.

Dios de la Roca y del Pozo,
Dador de Agua y Vida,
haznos un pueblo
consciente de tus bondades,
receptivo a tus dones,
y sensible a la sed de los demás.
