From the Pastor: “On Words of Life”
There is an old hymn titled “Wonderful Words of Life,” and when we sing it, we think about the Gospel and especially Jesus’ words. But did it ever occur to you that the Ten Commandments—despite all the prohibitions—are also “wonderful words of life?” They were given to the Israelites as a gift, after they had been liberated from slavery in Egypt, so that they might learn how to establish healthy limits for their lives. May we take the Ten Commandments to heart and discover that they are indeed “wonderful words of life.” ~ Rev. Magdalena I. García

De la Pastora: “Sobre las Palabras de Vida” 
Hay un antiguo himno que se llama “Bellas Palabras de Vida”, y cuando lo cantamos pensamos en el Evangelio y, especialmente, en las palabras de Jesús. ¿Pero se le ha ocurrido pensar alguna vez que los Diez Mandamientos—a pesar de todas las prohibiciones—son también “bellas palabras de vida”? Fueron dados a los israelitas como un regalo, después de ser liberados de la esclavitud en Egipto, para que aprendieran a establecer límites saludables para sus vidas. Ojalá que nosotros atesoremos los Diez Mandamientos y que descubramos que en verdad son “bellas palabras de vida”. ~ Rev. Magdalena I. García

From the Pastor: “On the Importance of Perspective”
Last Tuesday, we opened the Session meeting with a short but beautiful reading, taken from the Lenten devotions provided by the denominational magazine Presbyterians Today. It talked about how a traveler to the Holy Land at first saw only the color of a dirty dog in the landscape all around her. That is, until she had an insight: she was looking at “the land of milk and honey,” which refers to God’s promise of prosperity. I pray that as we journey through Lent and this time of transition, God might give us all new eyes to see the “milk and honey” all around us. ~ Rev. Magdalena I. García

De la Pastora: “Sobre la Importancia de la Perspectiva”
El martes pasado, abrimos la reunión del consistorio con una lectura breve pero hermosa, tomada del libro de meditaciones para Cuaresma de la revista denominacional Presbyterians Today. Hablaba de una viajera a Tierra Santa que al principio le parecía que todo el paisaje a su alrededor era color de perro sucio. Es decir, hasta que tuvo una revelación: estaba mirando “la tierra que fluye leche y miel”, lo cual es una referencia a la promesa divina de prosperidad. Oro porque al pasar por la Cuaresma y este tiempo de transición Dios nos dé a todos y todas nuevos ojos para ver “la leche y la miel” a nuestro alrededor. ~ Rev. Magdalena I. García
